eNLC Bill First 2018 Bill to Colorado Governor

The first bill to the desk of Gov. John Hickenlooper in the 2018 legislative session is a bipartisan agreement that assures that many Colorado licensed RNs will retain their compact license status.
SB18-027 passed on 3rd Reading in the Colorado House of Representatives this morning.
Upon the Governor’s signature, the bill will go into effect January 19, 2018, assuring no lapse in licensure for current compact licensed RNs.
The bill’s proponents sent a “Thank you” to the more than 80 sponsors from both the Colorado House and Senate. A special thank you went to the key sponsors, Senators Smallwood & Todd, and Representatives McKean and Kraft-Tharp.
The bill was first introduced Jan. 10 and passed seven calendar days later.

Colorado Lobbyists Association Says -- Save Room For Dessert!

The Colorado Lobbyists Association will treat all comers -- lobbyists, legislators and others -- to a free dessert at 1 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 18, in the basement cafeteria of the Capitol.
Save room!
We'll be there to greet our members, to answer questions and to assist them in setting up their lobbyist profiles in our "Find A Lobbyist" online directory. We'll also be there to receive suggestions on improving our service to the profession.
For prospective members, we'll be there to explain our member benefits and our value proposition, especially our efforts to "grow the pie" for lobbyists statewide.
We'll see you tomorrow at 1 p.m. at the Capitol and at 4:30 p.m. at the Colorado Society of Association Executives' Legislative Reception at the Colorado Automobile Dealers Association.

New Husch Blackwell Lobby Group Would Include Colorado

Veteran Missouri lobbyist Andy Blunt is teaming up with a long-time confidant of Blunt’s father, Sen. Roy Blunt, in a lobbying venture in several states, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
Gregg Hartley, a veteran D.C. lobbyist who previously worked for Roy Blunt, confirmed that Andy Blunt would join Husch Blackwell Strategies as chairman of the board and chief operating officer.
Hartley told the Post-Dispatch that Husch Blackwell would lobby in Nebraska, Wisconsin and Colorado, along with Missouri, and would also soon set up offices in Texas.

State Representative Faces Third Formal Sexual Harassment Complaint

A former legislative aide has filed a formal complaint against Colorado state Rep. Steve Lebsock alleging sexual harassment, the third leveled against the Democratic lawmaker and state treasurer candidate, The Denver Post reported.
Cassie Tanner came forward in November to tell The Post that Lebsock unbuttoned her shirt at a political event in March 2015, but she did not filed a complaint with House leadership until Tuesday. Lebsock, a three-term lawmaker from Thornton, has denied the incident took place and said Wednesday he did not attend the event in 2015.
